Design is Dead’s very own creation, MONA or Museum Of Neverending Art, has won the Leader Award (equivalent of Silver) in the Experiential Marketing category!
This participative virtual museum, realized in cooperation with Emakina.fr for the development, is open for visitors worldwide to explore and to add artistic contributions (text, pictures, drawings). The canvas is constantly in motion and thus an endless user-generated artwork, illustrating IE9’s creativity enhancing functionalities. MONA opened its doors at the occasion of the launch of Internet Explorer 9 by Microsoft, and will continue to exist and will house an impressive collection of international collaborative art. Don’t miss it! Visits are 100% free.
Design is Dead proudly presents its new Creative Director: Bart Lommelen.
Bart Lommelen started working for Design is Dead in 2005, even before he graduated with high honours from Sint-Lukas in Graphic and Advertising Design. In 2008 he became Art Director at Antwerp’s finest agency. Now, he will be our new ingenious guru behind the scenes and on the set, guiding the creative process of our projects from concept and rough cut though pre- and post-production to the red carpet and the premiere.
“The example I’ve set myself for the task ahead is Quentin Tarantino. As a director, he is incredibly creative, quirky, and 100% dedicated to doing things his own way–without this stopping him from reaching a wide audience. That is what I want for Design is Dead: To ensure we stay a cutting-edge, rebellious online agency with its own creative look and feel and its own singular identity, all the while attracting clients from all sectors and walks of life.”

When Studio 100 and Peter Goossens decided to serve their brand new TV channel Njam! with a digital sidedish, they evidently wanted their website rather ‘well done’ than ‘medium’ or ‘rare’. So, Design is Dead was the perfect chef to team up with! Check out this new creation from our star-studded kitchen: a fresh-looking, userfriendly webspot where you can browse recipes, top-chefs, videoclips, tips and tricks. You’ll never make a fool of yourself again in the kitchen!

This is the century of iPods and – Pads, of social media madness and of coffee bean shaped doses of coffee! L’or Pépites proudly presents the perfect dosage of coffee, spilling impossible. Our creative team worked –in collaboration with our French friends at groupeReflect- day and night to create the digital launch campaign of this cafein-induced innovation: from campaign website and game to video banners. Luckily, there were lots of coffee to get us through this project!
Roll out the red carpet for our latest motion picture! We’ve created a promotional and informational movie-clip for Nuance speech technology, demonstrating the endless possibilities of their Dragon Naturally Speaking applications. Shown to and applauded by millions across the globe, we like to think of this one as our ticket to the Academy Awards, ha!
We know you secretly come here every week to check if there’s a job opening at your favourite agency. Well, good news: we are currently (and urgently, we might add) looking for no less than 4 superheroes to reinforce our A-team:
A creative Flash developer/ Actionscripter with an eye for design
A senior php developer, preferably armed with Drupal knowhow
A project manager with a big heart for design and at least 2 years of experience in the web & marketing field
A designer with web experience and -even better- experience in a web agency
These Fab Four should speak Dutch as a mother tongue and will –after serious screening- ascend a throne at our Antwerp headquarters. Think you just might be our perfect match? Check out the jobs-page for more details, and send your applications to info@designisdead.com.
Our earlier mentioned project ‘MONA’ or Museum Of Neverending Art was launched in the good company of its “making of” video, as requested by Microsoft. Instead of a dry technical tutorial on how MONA demonstrates Internet Explorer 9′s functionalities, we opted for a fun and narrative sequence demonstrating the concept behind MONA. An approach which Microsoft applauded. Buckle up for some Hillbilly-fun and the story of MONA’s birth!
Last week, Microsoft officially launched its beta version of Internet Explorer 9 with a platform entitled “Beauty of the Web”. Amongst the selected online beauties: our very own creation MONA or Museum Of Neverending Art, which was selected by Microsoft in a worldwide pitch. This virtual museum is open for visitors worldwide to explore and to add artistic contributions (text, pictures, drawings). The canvas is constantly in motion and thus an endless user-generated artwork, illustrating IE9’s creativity enhancing functionalities.
Starring in Microsoft’s select “Hall of Fame” amongst big shots such as Joshua Davis, Twitter, Facebook and many more, we like to think of MONA as an exceptional achievement and a successfull first collaboration with our groupeReflect colleagues in Paris.
Dressing up the Lokerse Feesten-website has become an annual tradition at Design is Dead. Based on a profound analysis of the 2010 design trends, this year’s festival outfit is all about the mix of hi-tech geometrical patterns, nature and arts & crafts. However, since we understand the importance of userfriendliness, we took it easy. No visual overkill, and most importantly: easy access to festival and band information, something we believe every festivalgoer will appreciate.
Last month, 11 Design is Dead creatives attended the annual design festival OFFF, in lovely Paris. Check out the report of our 3 day design marathon in the French capital: lots of lectures, some strolling through the city of lights, fine French cuisine, tons of inspiration and gallons of transpiration. O yes, it was one HOT OFFF edition!
